Client Testimony

“Thank you so much for choosing to do this. Your effort, time, thoughtfulness, intellect, advocacy, and humanity was evident for each session. Your organizing and intentional use of the space combined with your facilitating skills allowed me to think critically and feel safe within the group. Please continue to take up space in this way - it's going to be needed in our field.”

Clinicians often hear, “the work starts with you,” when it comes to addressing internalized bias, but what does that really mean? Addressing this can be as simple as self-reflection. Building a self-reflective practice takes some work on the ground level and can build into a skill that is available to you for the rest of your career. It can look like pausing before a progress note after a hard session and asking ourselves, “were they angry, or was I scared? Is it both?” By doing this we practice developing critical consciousness.
